The following list has links to the Virginia Legislative Information System that provide additional information on proposed legislation such as the bill’s patron, committee actions, and Adobe Acrobat files of each bill. Click on the bill or resolution for additional information. Generally, the bills listed are related to issues that the Regional Commission is directly involved with including economic development, community development, and transportation. Information on committee activities can be found on the House of Delegates Twitter page. Additional information about the current session is available on the Virginia General Assembly website. The Governor’s proposed budget is available online at the Legislative Information System website.

Regional Legislative Priorities

The Regional Commission’s Legislative Committee has identified the top regional priorities for the General Assembly to consider for the 2024 legislative year.  Priorities include adequate funding for I-81 and the secondary road network, school construction, workforce housing, and more.

Members of the Legislative Committee are Committee Chair Phil North, Roanoke County; Commission Chair Jim Wallace, Salem; Lorie Smith, Franklin County; Peter Volosin, City of Roanoke; and Debbie Laudermilk, Clifton Forge.
