The Roanoke Valley Transportation Planning Organization (RVTPO) is amending the 2018-2021 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) to include the purchase of software, hardware, and surveillance equipment for the Greater Roanoke Transit Company (Valley Metro). The funding for these comes from Federal Transit Administration 5339 funding, which covers 60% of the funding for software and 80% for hardware and equipment. Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation and local funding covers the remainder. Public comment is being accepted until March 21, 2018 via the website: www.rvarc.org.
An official public hearing on the amendment of the TIP will take place at the RVTPO Policy Board meeting on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission office (Top Floor Conference Room), 313 Luck Avenue, SW, Roanoke, VA 24016.
