Amanda McGee Named Director of Community Development

The Roanoke Valley Alleghany Regional Commission announced that Eddie Wells retired from his role as Director of Community Development. During his tenure, Wells served with dedication and commitment for 25 years, contributing significantly to the region’s growth and development.

Following Eddie Wells’ departure, Amanda McGee, previously a Senior Planner at the Commission, will assume the Director of Community Development role. Amanda, with her eight years of service at RVARC, has been instrumental in leading efforts with Greenway Planning, the Roanoke River Blueway, and Urban Forestry programs. With her extensive experience in urban planning and community development, Amanda brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success to her new position, instilling confidence in her leadership.

“Becoming the Director of Community Development is an exciting opportunity,” says Amanda. “I am proud to continue to serve our region in this new, expanded role.”
